We are changing gears here at DX Central as it relates to our MW Frequency Challenges. After cycling through every single MW frequency at least twice over the past 4 seasons, we will spend the rest of Season 4 not focusing on specific frequency ranges, but rather a theme-based challenge approach.
For weeks 17 & 18 of Season 4 we are introducing the Country Challenge. The goal is simple, log as many countries as you can during the challenge period.
Points will be awarded for each country reported. Full points (10) will be given for each country reported with two loggings. If a DXer only logs one station in a country, half credit will be given (5 points). If a country only has one station available to be received (780-ZBVI in British Virgin Islands as an example) then full points will be awarded for that country. Additional receptions beyond the first two will not result in additional points. Awarding of points and reception value is at the discretion of DX Central/Loyd Van Horn.
We will be using the IRCA Country List at https://www.worldradiohistory.com/Archive-DX/IRCA-DXM/Articles/L-004.pdf for determining country validity.
The challenge begins at 0200 UTC on Saturday, January 11, 2025 and runs through 0200 UTC on Saturday, January 25, 2025. Only receptions made during this timeframe will count towards the challenge.
The entire mediumwave band is available to DXers to complete this challenge from 530 to 1710 kHz. Only licensed broadcast stations from the received country will count towards this challenge. Don't forget the United States, that should be an easy country to get the full 10 points for!
Portable operations are encouraged, within 25 miles of your home location. Equipment used must be your own.
To submit your loggings, registered DXers can submit them through:
Good luck to all DXers!
