We are changing gears here at DX Central as it relates to our MW Frequency Challenges. After cycling through every single MW frequency at least twice over the past 4 seasons, we will spend the rest of Season 4 not focusing on specific frequency ranges, but rather a theme-based challenge approach.
For weeks 21 & 22 of Season 4 we are introducing the 1,000 Mile Challenge. The goal is simple, log as many stations as you can that are located 1,000 miles (1,609 kilometers) or more from your location!
The challenge begins at 0200 UTC on Saturday, February 8, 2025 and runs through 0200 UTC on Saturday, February 22, 2025. Only receptions made during this timeframe will count towards the challenge.
The entire mediumwave band is available to DXers to complete this challenge from 530 to 1710 kHz. Any station heard (including TIS, pirate, etc.) are eligible to be logged provided the station logged is broadcasting on the frequency of reception. No spurs, no images, no harmonics, etc.
Portable operations are encouraged, within 25 miles of your home location.
DXers must use their own equipment for this challenge. Online SDRs are only allowed if they belong to or are managed/maintained by the submitting DXer.
Entries can be made at dxchallenges.com (does require users to register).
Good luck to all DXers!
