DX Central's Loyd Van Horn is pleased to announce another week of the fourth season of the MW Frequency Challenge.
For weeks 6-8, we are returning our popular annual Graveyard Challenge where DXers will spend the next three weeks trying to receive as many radio stations in that range as possible on the mediumwave "graveyard" frequencies of 1230, 1240, 1340, 1400, 1450 and 1490 kHz.
DXers must first register at dxchallenges.com to be able to submit entries in the weekly challenges. Registration is only required once to enter any of the challenges hosted by DX Central. To be considered for the challenge, all entries/receptions must be submitted through the appropriate form on dxchallenges.com
In addition to the usual stats that are tracked such as DXers with the most logs, furthest reception, most US states, most countries....for this year's challenge we will be implementing a scoring system similar to the one used during our Summer of DX challenge this past summer:
1 point for each 100 miles of each reception (i.e.: a log of 45 or 127 miles would be 1 point, a log of 283 miles would be 2 points, 610 miles would net 6 points, a 1398 mile log would net 13 points.)
3 points for each logging made using a portable or desktop radio (non-SDR) (NOTE: the points for this element are subject to change)
The DXer that accumulates the most points during the Graveyard Challenge will receive a special Graveyard Challenge t-shirt!
This challenge begins at 0100 UTC Saturday, October 26, 2024 and runs until 0100 UTC Saturday, November 16, 2024 Only logs for stations received during that timeframe and located on 1230, 1240, 1340, 1400, 1450 and 1490 will be counted for this week's challenge.
